Locate the type plate
The aluminium plate is on the engine block – usually on the fan cover or crankcase. If it is illegible, the serial number is also stamped directly into the crankcase.
Note the type and serial number
Copy the engine type designation (e.g. 1B40, 1D81, 2G40) and the serial number (Motor-Nr.) from the plate. A photo taken with your phone helps too.
Describe the part you need
